Voicemail has its uses, for example, when one won't be able to pick up the phone for awhile, but needs to relay a message immediately, or when other forms of communication are not possible, i.e. e-mail or texting is inconvenient or irrelevant.

However, I still usually end up ignoring it, thus rendering most of the pros as moot.

On the subject of high school friends, just because you're different, doesn't mean you can't be friends.

Pi is wrong.

Well, actually, maybe it would just be better to use what is currently known as 2*pi. I've always thought it would be easier if sine and cosine had periods that were just pi, not 2pi.

So should pi be 6.283185...? Should pi be the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its radius, instead of diameter? If so, it would take about 50 years for this to gain any momentum in the mathematical community.

End of the Year Chaos

Thursday, June 1, 2006 | 1:23:12 AM

Chaos.

I have to (or want to) do too many things during these last weeks of the school year. Sometimes I overbook... but I think most of this was forced upon me?

Bolivia, Rube Goldberg, Saxophones, Jazz, Choir (and hippies), redesign, honor guard, whawhawhat else?

I wanted to redesign this blog in time for the new month... but that doesn't seem to be plausible at this time. I want sleep, at least.

And as a last note... anyone have hippie clothes I can borrow for... tomorrow?

On Yearbooks

So it's the end of the year time, and there's all this fuss over signing yearbooks.

What's my stance on this? Personally, I think I'm bad at writing yearbook notes. I don't write all these complicated messages and I often have trouble thinking of what to say in the first place.

I'd rather give a short note to the person, summarizing key points or include a small anecdote, and then stay in contact with the person through other means. That way, the end of the school year isn't the end of a ...

Layout Number Two

Enough with the blue... now we're moving on to something... brighter.

I had orange in my last layout, but it wasn't enough for me. Now I went all out. It still seems a tad bit... unoriginal, but it's more of a separation from the standard blog format. I'm too lazy to round the corners, however. I was kinda lazy on many aspects of this. Basically, I wanted more orange. That I got.

The reason this is somewhat rushed is that I wanted to get this done by June 1st. That way, new month, new layo...

Graduation, 2006

First of all, I'd like to congratulate the class of 2006. WooT!

Next, I'd like a moment of silence for those from school who were not able to make it today.

.

This day has been awkward. It didn't seem like the last day of school until the confetti was scattered up to the wind, down to the grass. Yet, it's the end of an era and a grand beginning for most.

This was a day of reflection for me. I thought about the past and how I've changed. I thought about the present and what I've becom...

Random thoughts and programming work

Sorry for the lack of updates. I don't like putting forth lack-luster entries. Then again, anything is better than nothing... in most cases. I haevn't found a muse to write. Or if I have, then I lacked the initiative to do so. But now I'm going to force myself to develop some idea...

Time for a job? I do need a source of income, but I'm far too lazy to go to work at some fast food place, for instance. I simply don't feel like doing such tedious work. Well, not that what I'm interested in doin...

Regular Expressions and Optical Illusions

Sunday, June 18, 2006 | 1:45:58 AM

I was working on an update to accompany this entry, but I got stopped when I (overcomplicated?) a regular expression involving automatic links. I'm trying to set up BBcode-style formatting for entries and comments.

I wanted an automated link thing to easily link this optical illusion. It seems I will have to wait awhile so I can remove the bugs, but I still wanted to share that fun image.

Fun with Regular Expressions

I wanted to set up a simple way to add HTML to my entries. In this way, people can also style their comments. Instead of b bold /b , one can use asterisks. It should be *much* easier this way. I'm testing it right now by putting everything I added in, but I really hope it doesn't need -too much- any editing to my PHP.

I'll also need to add a few backslashes later to *stop* it from -changing- when d...

Fixing what works

Monday, June 19, 2006 | 1:39:00 AM

It always seems harder to modify existing code. In reality, I know that I saved a lot of time by doing so, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a hassle. Maybe it's that I'm not sure if I caught everything that needed to be changed.

Basically, I merged the tables that held the main entries and mini-entries. Here's to hoping that it'll all work out smoothly.

Extroverted like him

One may recall a previous post, labeling myself as a gregarious introvert, and this man's experience with paxil was a nice segue for me to further expand.

I am naturally a gregarious introvert; I am shy, but I enjoy interacting with others. At least, I would enjoy it if I wasn't quite so shy. The author of the article, Seth Stevenson, seemed to be similar. He was shy, but always curious for a personality that wa...

Cheese Ice Cream

Today, I went into the kitchen hoping to find a quick snack. A quick peek in the refrigerator revealed nothing that would satisfy this weird craving I had. I tried the freezer and a small package piqued my curiousity. It was a container filled with corn and cheese ice cream.

Yes... corn and cheese ice cream.

My mom seemed to have gotten some at the local Filipino store. Cheese ice cream is a rather popular flavor in the Philippines. In fact, it was my mother's childhood favorite.

I've...

Net neutrality... what's all this commotion?

If you don't know what net neutrality is, Ask a Ninja!

So you still probably don't know.

Net neutrality is the idea that no information should be prioritized by the ISPs.

Should ISPs decide to charge more for certain content, or even for faster delivery, then Net Neutrality would definitely be a good thing. Of course, if an ISP was to charge extra for some content, I'm pretty sure that it woul...

A few years later, a few people with malicious intent discovered the same flaw and exploited it, extracting personal information (including SSNs) from over 367,000 files.

Those who accidentally encounter a security flaw are rec...

Addiction to the DS

Tuesday, June 27, 2006 | 2:51:00 AM

I recently got two new games for the Nintendo DS.

I'm hooked.

Big Brain Academy and especially Tetris DS are addicting. Not quite as addicting as Maple Story, but nevertheless...

I want to get WiFi for Tetris DS, but I don't have WiFi at my house. This poses a problem, but I hope to get that remedied soon so I can feed my addiction online.

Driving, Take Two: Turn Left

So, I retook my driving test, finally.

I passed.

That's all I really have to say about that. I didn't do 20 mph under the speed limit this time!

So that's one test down. Tomorrow I get the results of 5 more. Or if my assumption on how it works is incorrect, I may just get one, but regardless, here it comes!

I still need the... the... stuff... before I can drive, though.
